Has anyone ever weighed the MP big-block aluminum water pump and housing and compared them to the weight cast iron pieces? I've searched the web and all over this board but didn't find any estimates or hard facts. Just trying to decide if they're worth the $225 combined, and the actual amount of weight saved might help me decide?
I found something that claimed 7lbs weight savings for the MP lightweight starter. Between the weight and better starting torque and increased header clearance, I think that one's worth the dough, but I'm not sold on the water pump and housing yet.

Anywhere between 7-10 pounds off the very front end. Plus you can opt for buying only the aluminum housing now and gettin a flow cooler aluminum pump later

I weight mine with a baby scale maybe not the scientific American Mag. special but I got eight pounds too. But you gotta remember it comes right off the nose of the car and they look cool too. The starter is worth it believe me. When you lift it and turn the key you'll thank yourself both ways. A little less weight but still a good swap is an Aluminum MC..

Hey, that aluminum waterpump and light weight starter helped me get my 4020 lb. 67 Charger down to an even 2 tons.
