im buying a MP 175k convertor from a freind, he had it on a 727 behind a 318 and had the weights welded on the convertor, im going to be using it behind my cast crank 440, will the weights he has on it for the 318 be the same and in the right location to work behind my 440, or do i need to take them off?????
thanks

Sometimes there are smaller weights added to neutral balance the converter

The neutral balance torque converters sometimes have small weights welded to the transmission side, but if they are welded to the engine side, then there is something strange going on. Dennis

The weights to neutral balance the converter that I've seen are on the side, and are flat & thin. The ones to balance the engine (which a 318 doesn't need) are bigger and on the front.

MP sells a weight package with instructions, you get all the weights for the different combinations plus instructions on correct placement. B&M sells a flexplate that's balanced for your application also.
