It will not hold its position. On a 70 Challenger, how can you "tighten" the pivot point so that glass does not end up in a position so that i am looking at the rear tire? JDMopar The one on my convertible does the same thing! I'd thought about heating and bending a phillips screwdriver in a "U" shape on the end and trying that? Haven't done it yet,but it might work. J&J Restorations info provided by members listed above How to remove Challenger door mirror glass ?? Gavin What's the best way to separate the door mirror glass on my Challenger? I need to get the mirror housings repainted with the car, I don't want to risk breaking the mirror glass (is it available still?) Getting to the screws inside the housing is pretty difficult, can't get a good angle with a regular screwdriver, and those screws seem to be in very tight. 340_6Pak_Cuda I use a screwdriver and pull the mirror up far enough to get the driver in. If its a remote mirror you will need to disconnect the cables at the adjuster to give it some slack. You will have to remove these anyways to be able to remove the cables from the housing. You will have to undo the crimps that hold the cables in the adjuster. Be careful, this is potmetal and will break if bent too far. I have done a few now and have had good luck so far. rokketride If you use just the right size Flatblade screwdriver you can get in at an angle and loosen the screws a little at a time until they come out. J&J Restorations The mirrors are glued on using black silicone. This is what I do to remove them without breaking the glass in order to save the original date code glass. You have to be carefull and patient.Put a wet rag around the mirror housing so that you keep the metal cool. Take a heat gun and heat only the glass part the best you can keeping the gun in constant movement. You will be able to heat the glass enough to soften the silicone and gently pry out the mirror.I haven't broken one yet. Don't get burned. info provided by members listed above
