318/360 LA in /6 63 Dart?
ZEEEW New Member Posts: 3 From: Registered: Apr 2002 posted 04-09-2002 09:46 PM Hello all Apologies for a probably old and "duh" question, but what is the difficulty level of putting a 360 in a 63 Dart? Are the pre68 models wider than the 68-76? Want to be able to get a v8 in the 63 or wont buy it, thanks all. Unlike 67+ a-bodies, the 64-66s used the Same k-member for both \6 and 273 engines. Also, they are definitely Narrower than the 67+s the 63's difference is a lack of a dimple for clearing the small block distributer, however, all the 64-66 V8 stuff works! ========================================== Speed Raycer Moparts Member Posts: 483 From: St. Louis, Missouri Registered: Sep 2001 posted 04-09-2002 10:47 PM The 273 motor mounts are different than the 340/360 mounts but can be made to work by adding an extra "ear" to the pass. side mount (I think...always forget which side it is). You could also buy the Schumaker mounts. Nice mounts for $100+ You'll also have to locate a 64-66 only 273 centerlink. The V8s have an inch drop in them to clear the pan. /6's are fairly straight across. V8 radiator is a must as well since the /6 version is offset to the passenger side. =========================================== al sullivan Moparts Member Posts: 1229 From: victoria bc canada Registered: Dec 2000 posted 04-10-2002 12:32 AM on the 63 just remove the wiper motor and flatten the fire wall a little to allow for dist clearance.i don't know why but we had clearance for the center link! Will a 73 Dart work? Thanks again all =========================================== Speed Raycer Moparts Member Posts: 483 From: St. Louis, Missouri Registered: Sep 2001 posted 04-10-2002 06:51 PM 64-66 only. 67 up centerlinks are too wide. Oh... and they aren't worth more than $75... just so you know when you see them on ebay for $150 ============================================ info provided be members listed above
