Moparts Tech ArchiveSprings & ShocksSpring QuestionsCan S.S. leaf springs be used with the original front spring hanger on an E-body?olson440 I got my Super Stock leaf springs from Jegs for my Challenger. It says I have to use a longer front spring hanger. Just wondering if they would fit using the originals.I would like to get them on without ordering $60 front spring hangers. Thanks, Steve ===================================== Superstock springs have a short front segement, like an A-body spring. You need the longer front bracket to install these parts on a B or E-body. =================================== Like Doctordiff said, SS springs won't fit an E or B body without the longer hangers. Of course, you could make your own with 1/8 flat stock bent to shape and drilled to fit, but that is a lot of work. ===================================== yes you need them but for the money its cheap hp my 71 cuda launches like a rocket. =================================== Best place to find spring offset kit? 72swinger360 Where would be the best place(price, quality) to find a spring offset kit? The part # is p4120077 for the hangers and p4120075 for the shakles. Neither Jegs nor Summit carry them. =================================== Doctordiff sells a nice kit. =================================== at your local dodge dealer, around $70 bucks, some times on e-gag to. ==================================== thanks guys but who in the world is doctordiff and e-gag? ==================================== 70SWGR Doctordiff's a member here. =================================== I just pulled mine off the Challenger. I will be selling the offset hangers, shackles, =================================== Which "Kit" are you looking for? There are Offset Spring hangers like in the latest Mopar-Muscle Magazine article (only gets you an inch or so per side) or do you want the Leaf-Spring Relocation Kit (puts Springs into Framerails and gets you 2-4 Inches PER SIDE additional clearance.) =================================== 72swinger360 well at first i was thinking the offset kit like the one in mopar muscle. but now after reading the article at bigblockdart.com it dosen't seem like that much more work with the relocation kit to get a much greater result. ===================================== On an A body, if you got to the 3" kit, you will need to modify the inner wheel tubs to be able to use more tire than what will fit with the offset shackle kit. I've got the offset kit on my Scamp, and with some massaging, I fit a set of 28 x 11.50 Hoosier QTP's on it. By the way, some of the 3" conversion pics on www.bigblockdart.com are from a Dart that I did. I never got to the point of doing the tubs though, as the guy ran out of money.... ==================================== '72, ===================================== well i'm not sure what size tire i'm going to use. just for the street right now i have a 215/65/15 on a 15x7 wheel. when im ready to buy a set of slicks i wanted to be able to get the fatest ones onder there. ======================================= dave mckenna i'm running 275/60-15s on my 71 dart, on 15 x 7 ralley wheels, with no spring or tub mods. =================================== wow there sure is a lot to take into consideration. now the relcoation and the mini tub almost sounds like the way to go. decisions...decisions..what to do...? ==================================== I printed out the pages off the Big Block Dart site and followed them step by step. I did it by myself and it was relatively straight forward. I have 295/50-15's on it now with plenty of room. I also narrowed the rearend and put 15x10's on it with 4" of backspace. If you have the ability to do it, it's an awesome look for A bodies! ======================================
